The family of James Wynne is getting closer to making a deal for the city of Kaufman’s first master-planned community after placing portions of the the historic Texas ranch, which the extended Wynne family has owned going back generations to The Battle of San Jacinto in 1836.

An undisclosed North Texas developer with experience in building master-planned communities has the acreage under contract to build roughly 2,400 single-family homes. The deal is expected to close by the end of April.
