Home prices in the metro Atlanta area rose 6.5 percent in January compared to the same time a year ago. That was a faster rate than home prices appreciated nationwide. According to the S&P CoreLogic Case-Shiller U.S. National Home Price Index released Tuesday, the national increase was 6.2 percent, down from 6.3 percent in December.
